This is our beautiful daughter Malaya. Malaya is 4 1/2 years old and has struggled a great deal in her short time here. She is undiagnosed and at birth suffered from seizures and infantile spasms. She can't sit up, move, eat, talk and has no purposeful movement with her hands etc and she has severe global developmental delay, and suffers from insomnia at times. As she cannot communicate with us it makes life very difficult and frustrating. She cries in pain and nobody can help her. Despite her struggle you will generally find a smile on her face.

As Malaya is 24hr care due to her constant gagging, choking and vomitting, which she cannot save herself. She would have up to 60 seizures a day, so my husband Daryl had to give up our business and stay home to help me. We lost our house and moved to Wellington in search for help, ie therapist and equipment for her. As Malaya could not eat or drink for 8hrs+ a day we would syringe milk into her mouth, only to have her vomit it straight back up. At age 2 she had a peg tube installed. During the first two years it was difficult for me to leave the house so I bought a small collection of face paints and googled face painting. As we had no income I began doing small birthday parties in the weekend and now trying to build Art into a full time income to support my family. Malaya is extremely tall and is to be carried like a baby as she has no muscle control so she is too heavy for me to carry which means my husband has to look after her.

We are currently fundraising for Malaya as  the cost of nappies, syringes, food, transport to Conductive Education, and payed help. We also need ramps as Malaya is now in a wheelchair and we are currently in a rental house. Dr's admit there is nothing they can do to help so we are constantly taking her to nutritionist, osteopath, etc, as the food she is fed gives her severe constipation and irritable bowel . We are currently learning how we can make her formula from real food to combat these problems. Any Art sold goes to help fund these things for Malaya.

If you think you could help please go to Malaya's Web Site  malayania.com Thank you.
